Wow ! I'm actually really impressed ! The new hair does her wonders ..... After all, a girl is entitled to change her hair after 50 years or so !!

..... Unless you're the Queen of course.

LMAO.

She does look like Cinderella Kardashian now. What a total whore-makeover.

I'm barely seeing the first image here, and, um, she looks HOT! Of course, she always did, and honestly, this does not come across as the girl from the classic film to me... Maybe it's the combo of the new style with the blonde hair...

She looks like a Kardashian? She looks like a Bratz doll? She looks like a whore? Really?

I can understand if you don't like the makeover, but those are all extremely outlandish claims.

First of all, we can't even see her whole dress but you can see her holding it out with her hand still making it a full dress. She's not showing any more clevage than you'd find on any red carpet, and her stomach is completely covered. In fact the only place where she's showing a lot more skin is her shoulders because her shoulder straps are made of tulle. Even her hair is covering more skin than it used to! Beyond that, the hair style is well made and completely suitable. I didn't think that having nice hair made you a whore now-a-days.

Aside from all of those points, how in any way shape or form worse than Ariel as a mermaid and Jasmine in most/all of her outfits?

I'm not saying you have to like it, but I do kinda feel the need to defend my taste in fashion against the trash you guys are comparing it to.

Aside from that, how is this any different from the designer dresses everyone went gaga over at The Disney Store. In fact, we probably have that to blame for any new designs. With the gold and thousand jewel dresses they pretty much just added to the previous designs. I'd much rather have something like this than that.

It's also my impression from that add that it may be possible that this image is mainly for this new accessory line. If it is, does that help make it less of a deal? :P That add makes me laugh too. "Top quality products"... They all look like the cheap plastic crap they always made!

No she doesn't. Her face looks the same, it's only her hairstyle that has been changed. And, btw, I think it looks amazing. In fact, she looks better than she ever did before in the Disney Princess line.

I can't wait for future updates/makeovers to other heroines. It's loads better than those tacky gold/jeweled gowns redesigns.
I agree! Can't wait to see what Aurora will look like... I really like Cinderella's new dress. And as you say, it's so much better than those AWFUL sparkly, gold redesigned dresses.

I think she looks like Betty Cooper from Archie Comics, you know as in Betty & Veronica, dressed up as Cinderella for Halloween or a costume party.

Her hair (the most noticable change) looks hideous. It looks like a knotted mop. I'm not sure why she's wearing a headband either?

I kind of like the bow sleeves, but that is all. The Matrix-esque bodice (011011001-- ) is tacky as all hell. It looks like some sparkly bathing suit that with an unattachable dress. Thankfully, Ariel is already hot so maybe her design won't be similarly deformed in future clip art.

Nice, but they should change her hair and dress back to their original colors.

I'm surprised at the warm reception the make-over has gotten, especially since I can't see anything redeeming in it. If it's just for one little accessory line, I won't cry too much, but still, I don't think she looks like Cinderella anymore-- just another doll to get off the shelves.

Perhaps I'm being over-dramatic. They've all been "just another doll" to sell for quite some time now...

Well I'm also kind of bothered by Disney doing these kinds of things to their characters...but they've been in other non-canon outfits in Walt's day haven't they? I don't remember. But as long as it's just for merchandise.

This is actually a screenshot from the new dvd/blu ray.

They restored it, because this is what the original creators actually wanted. Let's all be happy, because who are we to question the filmmakers?

Even the former version of the artwork never followed the film. Cinderella was a strawberry blonde not a blond blonde and her dress was silver, not blue. Why they went completely away from what she looked like in the film to begin with? Who knows? Maybe blondes in blue dresses were more marketable.

Yeah, I guess at the time when the film came out, the creators must have been very disappointed, and there must have been articles in the news paper about this. "We are not happy with the way it looks at all, our intentions were to make her dress blue but it turned out white, it's a disaster. Hopefully there will be a way of restoring it someday, so that we can have the blue dress we always wanted".

Does anyone have links to articles or statements from the filmmakers back then?

;)

I can't post a picture right now as I'm on my iPhone, but if you google the original release Peter Pan posters, Wendy is blonde in some of them. I have no idea why, but she is bright Alice in Wonderland blonde....maybe to make a connection to that film ? Who knows; but that was shoddy marketing. I'm not saying she is blonde in all of them, but definatley some.

Besides, Disney changes their dresses etc all the time, like everyone has mentioned, to those horrific gold sparkle things. Her fringe is the biggest change here really.

My Grandma has a old music book for piano (probably early 80's or late 70's) and on the cover Cinderella as dark brown hair and her dress is pink... Every other character has correct coloring.

Explain that one.

Exactly my point !!! You CAN find randomly coloured/designed official Disney images, for no apparant reason whatsoever !

I use to have some old Disney books of Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty and every character in the book looked different in some way whether it be different coloring and just looking off model. The books were probably from the 70's. The Evil Queen's outfit was lime green and red with some purple. Maleficent was pink and red. Really bizarre I wish I could find them lol.
