Yuck, all 3 are ghastly! They look too clip arty and as if they have been fan-made in Photoshop. I'm glad we're getting the UK cover and not any of these.

Does anyone have seen anywhere a comparison between the Fullscreen and Widescreen versions of this movie?

I personally have the first UK DVD release from 2001, which was in open-matte fullscreen. I couldn't find any comparison videos on YouTube but the DVDizzy review right here does have some side-by-side pictures.

http://www.dvdizzy.com/aristocats-specialedition.html

Going back to the cover-art options, I think that they are all simply mock-ups (the third cover-art possibly being a stand-in for the likely US cover). After all, why bother creating final cover art for something that could get thrown out the window?

yeah, I saw this, but it's not a good comparison. I'll guess I'll make one later today

Aww no audio commentary? I guess I got my hopes up for nothing. Oh well at least the picture should be good.

And a 1.66:1 ratio? How curious.

1.66:1 is better than 1.75:1 IMO. but it could always be a misprint. the DVD lists a 1.75:1 AR, which means that it's going to be the old version

I created a comparison between the different editions of the Aristocats (Gold Collection / Special Edition DVD / Special Edition Blu-ray)
* not all pictures are exact frames, but most are
* I also made two overlapping pictures to show off the difference between the current edition and the 1.33:1 Gold Collection edition. This is the first time I'm doing this so, please, bare with me :o

I'm hoping it is a misprint. 1:75:1 is the Original Theatrical Ratio.

The Blu-ray looks like an improvement. Though I gotta say, the Everybody Wants To Be A Cat sequence in the SE has richer colors.

It's not a misprint as proven by the post above you

Lnds500, thanks for the comparison. To me, it looks like they removed a yellow tint, for the better. This yellow tint crap was a pretty common problem with low budget DVD restorations (well, it's still a problem every now and then).

you're welcome! I like the colour changes as well (Berlioz is darker now) except for Georges' coat and hat which are now grey instead of green.

Would anyone know if this Blu-ray release of The Aristocats restores the film's original Buena Vista logo at the beginning of the film? Or does it still have that blue Walt Disney Pictures castle logo at the beginning?

The reason I ask this is because all previous home video releases of the film (including the 2008 SE DVD) had the Walt Disney Pictures logo appearing at the beginning of the film, instead of the original Buena Vista logo.

Are you the same person I responded to before on Blu-ray.com? Here.

Actually, I'm not the same person you responded to on Blu-ray.com; that would be someone else.

Oh, and BTW, I saw the picture... it's really nice that the Blu-ray restores the Buena Vista logo, but I wonder if the 2012 DVD (which will also be included with the Blu-ray) will have it, too?

lol, your questions were constructed in the same way, I had to ask.

based on the Tech Specs of the release (http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php ... ost6038669), the DVD will be in 1.75:1 so I guess they are using the old release.
I expect a lot of the new releases to follow a similar tactic
