Well, I just picked up the Australian Pocahontas/Pocahontas II Blu Ray set.

So, Pocahontas looks great - very sharp and clean from the few minutes I have watched. And it starts with the white castle on blue, rather than using the new CGI one. In my opinion, it is exactly what a 90's Disney movie should look like on Blu Ray.

Pocahontas II looks very good for what it is, but the HD transfer leaves it looking a bit like a flash animation, with black outlines around a lot of the supporting characters. So really, the PQ is the least of this movie's problems!

The bonus features are:

Pocahontas Audio Commentary
Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story Of Hiawatha (HD) 11.49
"If I Never Knew You" Deleted Song (HD) 4.51 with opening commentary
The Music Of Pocahontas (SD) 7.05
Deleted Scenes (SD) - Total of 9
"Little Hiawatha" Cartoon Short (SD) 9.11

The total Blu Ray size is 34.1GB, so of course more extras could have been transfered over. The only feature on the DVD release was the Music Of Pocahontas, so at least we don't have another Fox and the Hound situation, where the extras are on the DVD copy. I didn't look at the DVD of the second movie though, but I doubt it has any different extras.

@Topher: Could you please post some photos of the packaging?

I also have a few questions:

There is an audio commentary for the movie? Is it a new one or did they import the LaserDisc one?

Are these the only extras? But the BBFC passed much more. :?

Are there two Blu-rays or are both movies on one?

Are the DVD copies of the movies stacked on top of each other like The Fox and the Hound Blu-ray case?

Which version of Pocahontas is included? The original one or the Special Edition one which includes the "If I Never Knew You" sequence?

What trailers for future home video releases are included?

Commentary: I'd say it wouldn't be new. It is by the producer and the directors who state it is a reunion of working on the film.

These are the only extras on the disc. Maybe international releases will have more.

Both movies are on the one disc.

DVD copies - hah! Disney didn't even give us those for the Fox and the Hound. Disney are getting rather cheap in Australia and only seem to include them for the Diamond editions now, yet I paid $40 for this one disc set. I looked on the cover of the individual DVD release when I was in the store to see what bonuses were on it.

Theatrical version. Like the Lion King, the additional song is a bonus feature this time round.

And also, we don't get trailers on our releases. The only Blu Ray I have seen them on was Fantasia 2000, and like the Anthology bonus features on the same disc, they weren't accessible from the menu.

As for the packaging photos, what is a good site to post them on, so that I can link them here? Preferably something I don't have to sign up to.

Has anyone noticed that on Lady & the Tramp the opening with the white castle on blue background lacks audio as it plays out.. Is that also the case with Pocahontas??

Thanks for answering my questions.

ImageBam is a good one where you don't need to register.

Are you talking about at the start of the movie? I just picked up the blu-ray and can confirm it still includes the drums over the opening blue castle logo (Pocahontas doesn't use the standard theme used for most other Disney films when the logo plays).

The aspect ratios are a misprint. Both movies are 1.78:1. It says on the cover that Pocahontas II is 4:3, which is incorrect.

Yeah I'm watching 1 right now and no black bars. And I'm 99.9% sure the second one is the same.

Thanks for the pics! If possible, could someone post a pic of it in the middle of the Disney collection? Just for us to see how's it looking! Thanks!

Oh, what a pity... I wanted to see the original audio commentary. And I don't even have a LaserDisc.

If this had had If I Never Knew You IN the movie, I would have imported it. Now, knowing it's just a deleted special feature, I will easily wait for the American release, and even then, I don't like watching the movie without that song in it, so I might even skip it altogether...Ah, who am I kidding, Colors of the Wind in 1080p alone will be worth it.

What?? Seriously, Disney?! You cut the song out again?! I don't even care if the song's coming as a bonus feature, it made the movie seem more complete when the song was put back in! #%*& you, Disney! Just- Just, #%*& you! :x

Sorry, I just feel really REALLY sore about this. As if ANOTHER Harry Potter movie didn't win any of the Oscars it was nominated for and the animated film I was rooting for didn't win (PS, the pretentious snobs at the Academy can go shove a cactus up their asses, btw). I find out that 'If I Never Knew You' got cut from the film AGAIN!
