I don't think it's rapping . I think its more of like a small song that Maui sings by himself. Like the bing bong song from Inside out.disneyprincess11 wrote:While having LMM as the lyricist, there is no surprise that there WILL be rapping in Moana!

The Witch has a rap in Into the Woods (a Disney film). A "musical" rap can be different from a more "traditional" or "mainstream" rap (though, it doesn't have to be; just look at Hamilton).DisneyFan09 wrote:Really? Rapping in a Disney film??
I'm speechless.

Re: Moana
Modern rap has been a major part of music and culture for 40 years, particularly growing in the last 20, and painting it all with the same broad brush is highly problematic. It's also been incorporated in many traditional musicals, and been highly successful with more innovative uses like Hamilton.
I'm sure any rap in Moana will be suitable for Disney

But he looks a lot better than the early version when he had a neckbeard. Nothing wrong with neckbeards, I just think Disney should avoid them: http://41.media.tumblr.com/0dcf0c808292 ... o2_400.jpgSilvershade wrote:And here I thought he was a giant Cabbage Patch Kid that got his face squished in. At least now we know why the final clipart of the princesses is always so horrendous.

I'm actually doubting whether that person really works for Disney. Let's not forget, we only have his word to go by. What makes me suspicious is that, for one, he has three different Deviant Art accounts under three different names, and for another, his work is really subpar for someone supposedly working for Disney.

I liked the second one, to be honest. The former was inferior.Sotiris wrote:^I just hope that artwork isn't final. Those two pieces look pretty bad.

Yeah but Disney isnt above hiring sub par artist these days(looks at most of the Blu-ray covers made this decade.)
at first I lol'ed b/c I was thinking "wow Disney, youre not even gonna wait to see how Moana performs at the BO, you justknow a Polynesian girl isn't gonna even touch the popularity of the Frozen sisters.

They don't look bad. They actually look superior than the other Disney dolls from Hasbro. I still haven't accepted the thought of Hasbro distributing the dolls.

The artist who's doing Moana for the Disney Princess lineup is getting KILLED online because Moana is being "whitewashed"

Re: Moana
I had thought Moana's (possible--if it's official) clipart looked lighter than normal, just like Tiana usually does... But I didn't want to say it on here to open that can of worms.

Re: Moana
I'm pretty sure now that guy is a fraud and doesn't work for Disney Consumer Products.
Aside from the fact that he goes by three different aliases (Allan Ausbrooks, Alvaro Twain, and Alvaro Padilha) and his work is subpar even by Disney clip-art standards, he posted the following tweet (which he since deleted) claiming that his work is being used for publicity around the world (which is an obvious lie since print publicity hasn't begun anywhere yet) and the image he posted is clearly photoshopped.
This is not the first time he's done this. In the past, he (badly) copied one of David Kawena's drawings and tried to pass it as official Disney artwork.
The supposed clip-art of Moana he posted is based on an existing one for Rapunzel. He used that image and just tweaked it a bit here and there.
