Won’t lie, I think if there’s one animated musical that could not only work better in live action but could be greatly improved, it would be Hercules. I’d be interested to see where this goes.

I mean, so could must of them in theory, but you know they'll cast all the wrong people and whatnot.

Im surprised they are considering this one, I really thought this was one we weren't going to see done b/c of how many other recent Hercules films there have been that flopped. That's why I thought they were doing it on Broadway. Though I guess by the time it gets released it will have been a while since those other versions were out.

It would probably be consigned to the streaming service just like the Lady and the Tramp movie. Would be fun if they got someone like Jennifer Hudson to play the lead Muse. Sherri Shepherd for the "Hunkules" Muse.

I'd definitely be up for seeing this!

Like Divinity says, it would probably be direct to Disney+, but I'd be happy to see it. Anything that gives me new Menken music and brings a new audience to the classics.

I still think JHUD would be a good Calliope (lead of the Muses), but, considering Disney managed to get Beyonce for The Lion King, I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at her for a role like that one if this were to be made and released theatrically. It would be cute considering she began her career as the lead of a girl group; JHUD would be better though. Whether or not Beyonce is there, hopefully they would get Anika Noni Rose to play one of the 5.

Yeaaahh, I'd be so down. Kellan Lutz and Dwayne Johnson movies were letdowns as far as I remember.

Good if it could be a musical.

I actually kind of like Kellan Lutz TV movie in a way... Then again, for a long time I thought it was TV movie.

I know the film isn't certain to happen at all yet. But: I wonder if they might would go to the myth to include a little bit more. I don't expect a drastic change (Hades and the Titans would still be the villains/climax), but perhaps after Herc goes to Zeus the first time, he's told to go to Phil to be trained and take on several trials--not necessarily the same ones or the same number of them from the myth. Perhaps they could even make defeating the Titans into a trial? And sacrificing his life for someone else's--saving Meg from the pool of souls--is the "final" trial to re-gain his godhood that he can't be told about by Zeus.

Regardless of if they were to try to include more of the myth or not, only Disney's version of Hercules can include "Zero to Hero" and "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)." It's too bad Emma Stone is playing Cruella; she would be a good Meg.

Goldie Hawn and Bette Middler should play two of the Fates.

Amphitryon and Alcmene should be play by Carl Reiner and Eva Marie Siant.

That's my casting choices

We Got This Covered has heard that Disney is working on a live-action Hercules and is eyeing Alexander Skarsgard for the title role. Our source tells us that he’s on the wishlist but there’s been no auditioning process just yet, so it’s far from confirmed. As can be expected based on previous remakes though, the new film will be very similar in plot to the 1997 original.

In terms of who’s making it, we’ve been informed that Disney’s looking for writers and directors who might be considered “outside the box” choices. Presumably, this move’s inspired by their recent Aladdin remake. Guy Ritchie was an unlikely pick to helm the musical but the film went down a smash, so the studio’s probably hoping to repeat that success.

A previous rumor did the rounds in June that said Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) was the top pick for the role with Aquaman's Amber Heard playing Megara and Benedict Cumberbatch as Hades. However, our source didn’t mention any of those names when they spoke to us and as such, it appears as if the studio’s now heading in another direction.

Skarsgard would be a good Hercules.

Cumberbatch as Hades... I'm having a hard time picturing that. Maybe it would have been good, Idk. No offense to Cumberbatch, but Sherlock is the only thing I've loved him in. Everything else I've seen, he's alright but not a standout for me.
