So what features are on the UK versions?

This review for My Neighbors the Yamadas states that the UK Blu-ray has a 68 minute "Behind the Microphone" featurette with the English dub cast: http://www.blu-raydefinition.com/review ... eview.html

Could this really be the case? I find it hard to believe they could fill 68 minutes with interviews of the English cast, but maybe I'm wrong. If this thing really exists, why the heck did they only put the typical 4-5 minute "Behind the Microphone" feature on the DVD? Either way, I hope we get the same thing when we see this title in the US (whenever that day comes...).

Whisper of the Heart is getting a UK release on November 21st. Hopefully you shouldn't be far behind (to coincide with Arrietty maybe?)

We don't even have Laputa: Castle in the Sky or My Neighbors the Yamadas yet, let alone Whisper of the Heart! At this point, I've kind of given up on them; I'm sure they're coming eventually but Disney is in no rush, that's for sure. The last Ghibli release we had was Nausicaa in March.

Arrietty debuts theatrically in the US in February 2012, so I wouldn't be surprised if Disney puts out the next Ghibli "wave" then, which hopefully will consist of more than 1 title. It'd be nice to get Laputa, Yamadas, and Whisper all at the same time so we could "catch up."

And Ghibli continue the bizarre release schedule with Tales from Earthsea and Howl's Moving Castle coming out in Japan in November.

Very strange... but happy to see Howl's Moving Castle coming up next.
Is there any news about when we'll get My Nieghbors the Yamadas, Whisper of the Heart(??) or Castle in the Sky?

A year after Nausicaa is released in North America and finally some good news for Studio Ghibli fans...

Castle in the Sky and Whisper of the Heart are up for pre-order on Amazon.com!!! :o

It looks like they skipped over My Neighbors the Yamadas for the time being, unless that comes up in the next few days. Even still, that's 3 Ghibli titles on Blu-ray this year! Better late than never!

Excellent news!! I hope they end up coming out alongside Arrietty's release.. I can't wait to pick this up. I hope we see Howl's Moving Castle soon, though.. Disney seriously needs to start putting out more Ghibli titles than they have been. Thanks for the report, MJW.

Still no release date yet...
Same art as the previous DVDs, not very surprising..

I wonder if these new releases will have all the features from the last 2-disc editions.. hmm

Argh! I just bought Totoro, and it's sure to be released on Blu soon! I'll try to keep up with these releases though. I do have Ponyo on Blu. I suppose I need to go out and get Nausicaa though. A friend sent me the standard DVD of it, but I haven't had a chance to watch it. I also have standard DVDs of Kiki's Delivery Service (not the current release), Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke. I really need to have a Ghibli Marathon soon, as Kiki, Ponyo, Arrietty, and Totoro are the only ones fresh in my mind (I've never even gotten around to watching Castle in the Sky yet). Kiki I haven't seen in a while, but it's my fave so I've seen it the most. I've also seen Pon Poko and some of Only Yesterday on television. Actually, I just downloaded Only Yesterday (since there's no U.S. DVD), so I should watch it soon too.

Those covers are pretty awful compared to the UK releases, nevermind the Japanese.

I agree, but at this point I don't even care as long as we get them - and they stay consistent with the "Studio Ghibli collection" banner they got going on.
I'd do anything for those Japanese covers though..

The Japanese Covers are beautiful. You would never see any movie in the USA with that style of cover art though.

Not with Disney as Distributor, but I wouldn't be too surprised, if Criterion for example would actually use them.

one thing i love about the ghibli collection dvd releases [in region 4 at least] was the reverse has a japanese cover. just amazing. i reversed almost all the slip covers to show this instead of the english language one. i love that they did that.
