ALADDIN is Disney’s spectacular version of the classic Arabian Nights fairy tale. Set in the mythical city of
Agrabah, the story follows a street-smart teen, Aladdin, and his mischievous pet monkey, Abu. Aladdin falls in
love with the free-spirited Princess Jasmine, despite a law that says she can only wed a royal suitor. His luck
changes with one rub of the magic lamp, releasing the shape-shifting, fun-loving, wish-giving Genie, who turns
Aladdin into a Prince. But the evil vizier, Jafar, and his wisecracking parrot, Iago, also crave the lamp’s power. If
Aladdin is to defeat them and win Jasmine’s heart, he must learn to be himself – with a little help from his big blue
buddy, the Genie.

All-New recording of “A Whole New World” by the Disney Channel Circle of Stars

That is the one thing I could do without. It was just so bloody awful on the Lion King DVD. It cannot be any better on my Aladdin. They are butchering the classics! Just because you are on a Disney Channel show that does not mean you can sing! :x

 You have to admit that in some areas, my press release was dead on.

Well, I'd just like to commend Disney for at least acknowledging that changes were made to the film instead of just calling it the "Original Version". Looks like they listened to angry Disney fan's complaints about TLK. I'm stick ticked that they're only releasing the changed version though.

Well, this is certainly looking like a major step up from the previous 2 Platinum Releases, but of course, not reaching Snow White. The making-of now looks to be pretty good, although I still expect something along the lines of the Cogsworth and Lumier section of BATB's DVD. The games looks more creative and better-than-normal too.

I may just have to get the box set this time. I love collectible film cels, and I have zero Aladdin memorabilia.

Definately looking forward to this! Thanks for posting this ASAP, Luke!

i'm surprised that they are not including a feature on Aladdin, the musical that is currently playing at the Hyperion theatre at Disney California Adventure. clips from the live musical performance would have been nice as well as the information on the additional songs they added to the musical.

Oh no! The stupid "Disney Channel Circle of Stars" is going to destroy another song???   Raven?????? Oralando Brown??? A.J. Trauth (Is that his name)??? Remove those two and it might, I said might, be acceptable, not okay, but acceptable. Raven really stinks at singing, specially when she and Orlando get "groovy". So I hope they get the flu during its production.

oh-oh!! no galleries??.. I hope they are in the "much more" subject.

anyway, this DVD looks way better than Beauty and the Beast and of course Lion King...let's hope that "original navigation system" isn't confusing and repetitive with very short featuretes.

NO!
They did it!

They got again the "Disney Channel Circle of Stars" to perform a Whole New World...

Is it just me? or everyone thinks it all seems like a dissapointing release like The Lion King? (speaking just of extra features, not the film itself)

Well, at least we'll get Digital Restoration and DTS.

Anyway this cover looks more like the Masterpiece Edition line than Platinum, it doesn't have any label on the top like the other Platinums do... I don't like this cover, I do hope they change it into a more Platinum style...

I think this generally sounds like a better DVD than Lion King and about on-par with Beauty and the Beast. I mean, we get 2 (!!) commentaries, a pop-up fact track, a documentary with a special branching feature, deleted scenes, virtual galleries (the press release doesn't mention it, but the other list did), the original music video (I'm ignoring the Disney Channel crap), and trailers. That all sounds like the makings of a good DVD to me. The kiddie games actually sound fairly interesting and it seems more effort was put into them than usual for this release. Overall, I'm excited for this release, and can't wait to own it.

Tangela-Where'd you get that cover art from? You're right in saying it doesn't really look Platinum-ish, though it looks good to me (despite the fact that it's the size of a stamp). It has the Walt Disney Classics logo at the top that the UK covers have, and if I'm not mistaken the UK platinums aren't actually called platinums, so this may just be an international cover. I just hope that the final U.S. cover has the platinum banner on it...

Luke posted it on the UltimateDisney Home page.

Also, the title looks like the one Alice in Wonderland has, doesn't it?

Ah, yes, I just now noticed it's on the main page. The title is fine because each Disney movie has its own little banner around its logo on the cover, and Aladdin's just happens to be similar (but not identical) to Alice's. What seems un-Platinum-ish about the cover to me is the fact that Aladdin's not the main focus on the cover, with the other characters smaller and in the foreground which is the case with the previous three platinums. I'm not surprised, though, because the Genie's the main focus of every Aladdin-related artwork. Either way, I like the cover and I really want to see the full fized one.

And yet there are STRICT rules that Genie cannot occupy more than 23% of any promotional Aladdin artwork.

It sounds like Aladdin will be a great Platinum Edition DVD.
All the new extras and the restored film sound really good.
I going to buy two of the Aladdin.
Why do the Disney Channel stars have to mess up a classic song. :x

I think that was just one of Luke's jokes, . Normally, the genie always takes most of the space in the aladdin covers, so I guess Luke's just saying that he shouldn't take up more than about 1/4 (I know math, wow! ;) ) in the cover, just a joke. Not one of his best though...
