I'd love to know as well as the Golden Collection/30th Anniversary Edition has a running time of 139 mins. and the Enchanted Musical Edition has a running time of 140 mins. I'd like to know why the Enchanted is one minute longer than the 30th Anniversary?
...I've tracked down each version of Bedknobs and Broomsticks and where to get them in the US and UK if possible. Note that Bedknobs and Broomsticks has been re-released several times on VHS without alternative version or alternative packaging, and so below you will simply find the first release of each edition. I've also highlighted the best quality edition of each version. If I'm missing any or you have feedback, please feel free to share:

Bedknobs and Broomsticks - Each Version + Where to Get them:

The full negative aspect ratio is 1.37:1. Movie theaters would have received the 1.37:1 version and then been asked to project it at the intended theatrical ratio of 1.66:1 as seen on DVD. The VHS and Laserdisc aspect ratios are pan and scan 1.33:1. It seems that Disney choose to go with the original theatrical ratio on some films and then the negative ratio with the others, even cropping slightly on some releases just to match a 1.78:1 HD 1080p TV screen. It would be nice if they were a bit more consistent (like putting both the full negative or animation ratio, along with the original theatrical ratio on Blu-ray). Anyway, here goes...

139 minutes (NTSC) / 133 minutes (PAL)
April 2, 1997 25th Anniversary Special Edition US NTSC Laserdisc

137 minutes

99 minutes (NTSC) / 96 minutes (PAL)
Re-release (April 13, 1979)
There is an old UK PAL VHS with the running time of 97 minutes, and I'm guessing this is rounded up

* Note that the 25th Anniversary Special Edition was only released on US NTSC Laserdisc and UK PAL VHS- this same extended version was later released on DVD under the 30th Anniversary Edition banner- though the content is the same, I've arbitrarily highlighted both the original 25th Anniversary Special Edition and the 30th Anniversary Edition. Note too that I've highlighted both the Musical Masterpiece Edition Region 1 NTSC DVD and the 30th Anniversary Edition Region 1 NTSC DVD as the Musical Masterpiece Edition DVD does cut some of the special features that were on the 30th Anniversary Edition DVD. In addition, though the Musical Masterpiece Edition US Region 1 NTSC DVD and the Special Edition UK Region 2 PAL DVD have similar packaging design, the US one contains the extended cut and the UK one contains the theatrical cut and is the only place to find that version on DVD.

Hi SwordInTheStone777,

None of the Premieres had A Step In The Right Direction In It.

I think the scene (save for the audio/song itself) is lost forever and is not on any edition, except as just a deleted song.

Nice comparisons! I was hoping you'd do a comparison between each version for I think I do prefer the 117 minute version, if only for nostalgia's sake since that's the version I grew up watching. I have the 2002 UK DVD (which has the extended cut), but I have actually been tempted to get the newer UK DVD just because it has the shorter running time. If the shorter version of Pete's Dragon was used for the UK Blu-Ray (presumably to align itself with some of the European dubs), I kinda hope an eventual Blu-Ray of Bedknobs and Broomsticks in the UK at least contains the shorter cut.

I agree Wonderlicious- it would be nice to have access to both the theatrical and 25th/30th Anniversary versions on Blu-ray.

Note that you can get the HD 1080p version of the 25th Anniversary/30th Anniversary Edition now at https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/bedknobs-and-broomsticks/id324854399
