TLM-ish music? Check.
Red-haired mermaid? Check.
"The Little Mermaid Returns to the Sea?" Check.

(I wish there was a better shot of the horse...I got Maxiumus vibes!)

Not exactly a rip-off but Barbie's exploration of the video game world is reminiscent of Wreck-It Ralph. You can watch the trailer, here.

Well, I've always thought Cars' designs were a ripoff of that old Disney short, whatever it was called. That said, I'm amazed at the bravery of some of these knock-offs. No way would I want to end up in a lawsuit with a company as rich/powerful as Disney... They'd rake you over the coals.

I remember doing a double take when "Help, I've Shrunk the Family" popped up on Netflix, thinking how blatant that title was. I did a bit of research and apparently, it's a Dutch movie named "Wiplala" based on a book written in 1957. So that's a really shameful move on the American distributor's part.

I even tried giving it a go but, for whatever reason, Netflix didn't have the original Dutch version. Just the English dub, which is kind of annoying.

Wait. That's Wiplala?!? That title makes no sense for the story (loved the book when I was a child by the way. The movie is pretty fun, you should give it a shot!).

I'm not sure that qualifies at all. It looks derivative, sure. But it pulls from all sorts of movies and tropes.

I remember a concept trailer for Red Shoes many years back on Cartoon Brew. Isn't it a South Korean production? I agree with Kyle - it does look derivative - yet I am eager to watch it to see if it transcends these elements.

Side note - I enjoyed the facial animation of the witch-like character, even it amounted only to a couple of seconds. I am seeing very strong shades of Tangled's Gothel in her, especially in her facial structure. It is prominent enough to feel like the animators lifted WDAS' Gothel CG model and made some superficial modifications to it.

Hmm...
