@Not.That.Kind.Of.Guy: Thanks a bunch!!

Emm...I'm not impressed with her character design. Her face looks weird; sort of plump and plastic. Hopefully it's just the awkward angle of the shot.

I'm not a big fan of the character design too, although I love the hair. Her face looks a little weird but I'm also glad that she's not a typical 'Disney princess type of girl'.

Yeah I agree with you two. She looks so weird! How do they make the characters from TS3 looks AMAZING, but make their first Disney/Pixar princess "Eeeeeeek"?

I think she looks amazing! Frankly I'd welcome an "average"-looking princess in this world where the media/entertainment is saturated with supermodels.....I don't even like to call this design average-looking, because I think she's gorgeous. That hair! Her eyes look blueish/greenish--very pretty. And it seems like she's got larger-than-normal ears, which I think is crazy cute and UNIQUE. Perfect = Boring.

Also I'm a member of the deviantART group that's following this movie and the person running it posted something about Pixar not wanting the still on the net? Say wha?

In that case....SAVED! :D Is it illegal to save the picture if Disney doesn't want it on the web?

Well what I'm saying is I don't think it's true, because this still is on the Pixar Blog, so......I'm mostly just wondering where that person got the idea that Pixar doesn't want it out there? Unless they really don't? I was hoping someone more in the know than me could shed some light on the matter :)

I think she's adorable, and that's coming from an avid Disney fan and someone fairly neutral toward Pixar.

Remember how we thought the initial designs of Tiana and Rapunzel in the early theatrical trailers weren't as good as what we ended up getting? I have a feeling it's going to be the case with this. Personally, I think she's beautiful.

I love the dark colors. I kind of wish this was a musical, but I'll live with it not being one. I hope they get something from someone like Loreena McKennitt for some background songs though or at least a closing credits song.

I think her design looks fine. I was more daunted at first sight of Rapunzel than Merida, so I'm sure she'll great in motion.

I'm really excited about this, and I can't wait to see some animation footage!

I have the sneaking impression most people are looking at this movie like some it's going to be a kind of "Disney Princess" film, what with the desire for a love interest and songs. I'm sure it'll end up more like Mulan if anything Disney, which (although having those things) had a different and more serious tone to it. This is probaby the one I've looked forward to most since WALL E and Up (which both let me down, mostly), because of the main female character.

Anyway, I love Merida's design. :D

When has a pixar movie ever changed designs from teaser to final film? Unlike hand drawn animation where you can change some things as you go, they kinda have to lock down the design before they build the model to really start production. If its already in its animation stages I don't see it changing at all.

Im not ruling out that this is just an odd angle, but so far Im not liking it much myself. Its not even that its weird (trust me when I say I want it to look uniquel), it just doesn't look well done imo. But I'll hold out for a better shot to really judge.

What terrible news. I'm glad that Chapman will still be credited, but it's still a great shame. Hollywood needs more Female directors :(

It's one frame out of what seems to be a fast moving shot. Commenting on how she looks is simply too soon, in my opinion.

I think we're reading her facial shape poorly because her chin is obscured by her arm, so we're filling it in oddly in our imaginations; she's quite attractive (although believably so) at the moment, but I look forward to seeing her actual face in its entirety, heh.

My first reaction was "HOLY CRAP THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TANGLED TO LOOK LIKE!". Not that I don't love Tangled, but there's something painterly but still fresh about this that makes a period CGI piece feel… right. I quite like her dress, as well—very practical but still lovely. And her hair is gorgeous, of course.

It might change under the new director, but I'm guessing Pixar will try something different with their first princess. For one, it looks like she'll have frizzy hair instead of straight.

I'm hoping they'll also utilize a different body type.

They did change Remy a little bit. If you recall, he was much slimmer in the original teaser.

Did they? you don't happen to have any side by side shots do ya?

I'm not keen on Merida's name, but I like her design :thumb: Lets hope it stays similar.

I really do not like her head shape.... it's typical Pixar I guess. :?
