I'd like to see the x-mas specials as part of the Treasures set, Walt Disney's X-mas is what I"d name this set, since they basicaly come out during x-mas season. I agree with everybody, Donald's Disneyland episodes should've been included on Vol. 3.

I would love a Jiminy Cricket set, I recall watching these on Vault Disney *bring it back Disney*

As for more Disneyland series: more is defintly in dire need. I was hoping the Disneyland Silly Symphony episodes would appear on Silly Symphony vol 2.

^ I wouldn't buy it if it was actually called X-Mas. I hate that lazy way of writing Christmas

X was a (Greek/Latin? I forget...) symbol for Christos, or Christ. So it is actually a legit way of saying Christmas.

Good Afternoon,

I am new here and have been scanning this thread to find out a few things. First let me say that I would definitely like to see the titles mentioned by Atomobile added the the Walt Disney Treasures collection. Especially Saludos Amigos, Fun and Fancy Free, Donald volume 4, more Disneyland specials, and also like others have mentioned, Professor Ludwig von Drake.

I am slowly catching up on the Treasures DVD's that I missed out getting when they first came out. I originally was only going to get the Donald Duck volumes and then it snowballed from there. I now have all 3 volumes of Donald; Disneyland USA; Behind the Scenes at Walt Disney Studios (just got it yesterday); Your Host, Walt Disney; Disneyland-Secrets, Stories, and Magic. The next two immediate DVD's on my list are Disney Rarities: Celebrated Shorts 1920s - 1960s and Walt's Tomorrowland. Then on to the next phase of getting the volumes of Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy. Sorry, I am rambling on.

I do have a question pertaining to the Treasures collection. Does anybody have any idea what is expected to be released for 2008?

Thanks for your time,

JD

I can't see the reason for Saludos Amigos, Make Mine Music and Fun and Fancy Free to be released as treasures? They are regular titles with previous releases.

Hi, and welcome to the forum :)

I am sorry but nobody has any solid info, only hopes for what may come.

The reason would most likely be that many of those releases were edited/modified.

That's true, but is there any reason why the new editions of these movies should be a treasure instead of just a re-release with the original movie unedited?

I didn't know there was anything edited from Fun and Fancy Free...

The reason we often suggest films like Make Mine Music to be released as Treasures (double features like Make Mine Music/Melody Time and Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros), along with Song of the South (with So Dear To My Heart, perhaps) is because the Treasures collection seems to be Disney's way of releasing "controversial" material uncut under the "specifically for collectors" guise.

Thank you very much Karlsen. I didn't think there was any info on this as of yet. If there was, I thought this would be the place to find it. :)

I think with a few of the recent announcements we can rule out any hope of the "Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros" Walt Disney Treasures set.....I'll bet the Archive Collection Laserdiscs go back up in price.

Also, it seems like there is a very conrete lead that we will have "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow" as one of the Walt Disney Treasures sets this fall. Here is what I think it will include:

1. Episode 1
2. Episode 2
3. Episode 3
4. Theatrical cut of the film
5. Art gallery with posters, comics, etc.
6. Interview with Patrick McGoohan
7. Possibly Theatrical trailer (highly doubtful, but it would be sooo awesome if it were)

Are there any other thoughts about what might be on the next Treasures set now that we've heard a few things? Also, what else might show up on the Scarecrow set?

I was going through some of my old Legacy collection sets, and realized that there was a whole "Destino" set that has probably been almost fully produced.....My guess is that this is also in this next Treasures wave (since the other two Legacy sets came out in the past Treasures set).

So we have Treasures Sets in December:

1. "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow"
2. "Destino"
3. ?
4. ?

thoughts?

Glad to hear news about the Scarecrow! Maybe they could include...well I can't think of anything but some additional paper material would be nice (like a reproduction of one of the comics). But this is great news all the same!

The Scarecrow set should also include The Wellingtons single version of the title song (on Disneyland Records).

I like the idea of including a reproduction of one of the comics, but why not go digital and include digital comics of ALL of the Scarecrow comics on one of the discs?

Aren't they going to publish a book with all of the new Scarecrow comics? If not, they should also be included.

The "Disney Adventures" magazine has a monthly comic serial that I heard was going to be compiled and published in a softback book.......I haven't heard of any release date or anything, but I kind of remember reading about it somewhere here on the boards a while ago.

Introductions by Leonard Maltin, obviously! :P

I have never seen Dr. Syn, in either its movie form or episodic form, but I"ve read many good things about it here at UD.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Donald V4 just to complete that series. Perhaps we'll get a Moochie set? Plus, there's always speculation of Rarities V2, Educational Shorts, and the People & Places series.

I hope we DO get those two. Also would definitely want Donald 4, and I'll be disappointed if it doesn't include This is Your Life, Donald Duck and Your Host, Donald Duck. If there were to be a 4th Treasures, my first choice (if it were my choice) would be for Song of the South, of course. After that, I'd wish for the rest of the Swamp Fox episodes. 3rd wish, a Melody Time/Make Mine Music unedited pairing. 4th most wanted: another set of shorts of some kind to include at least everything we used to get from the Disney Channel that hasn't been released (such as Scrooge McDuck and Money, Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons, Jiminy Cricket's stuff, and so on...). My 5th biggest want would be a Von Drake set or one for some other Disneyland episodes I've been desiring (like the Woodlore or Moby Duck stuff, etc...).
