YAY!!! THE TREASURES' LINE ISN'T DEAD YET!!! :D :D :D (yes, I know this is a delayed reaction, but I haven't had the time to post until today!)

I will most definately be buying the Oswald set. I actually have a couple of Oswald cartoons on DVD's I got for $.50! (At the time, they were public domain...not sure if they still are though). Being how I LOVE old (particularily black and white) cartoons, I'm really excited to get an Oswald set!

MY "FAB FOUR": 1- FANTASIA, 2- THE LION KING, 3- BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, 4- THE JUNGLE BOOK

I think three of the bonuses for Donald 3 should be:

1. An Adventure In Color/Mathmagicland
2. This Is Your Life, Donald Duck
3. An excerpt from "The Plausible Impossible", showing Walt explaining plausibility in sound effects using Donald as a "guinea pig". It shows Donald arguing with Walt and Donald hiding in Walt's desk. The dialogue exchange goes as follows:

WALT: (looking into desk) C'mon out.
DONALD: No sir! Leave me out of it.
WALT: Oh, c'mon, Donald, you'll enjoy this next demonstration.
DONALD: No, no, no, no! Absolutely not!
WALT: (losing patience) Donald, the people watching this program out there are waiting.
DONALD: Hmph! Let 'em wait!

1951
Dude Duck
Corn Chips
Test Pilot Donald
Lucky Number
Out Of Scale
Bee On Guard

As you can see, that would be 36 shorts, the same amount as Volume 1 (1934 - 1941).
Well, on the other hand, that would also leave even less titles for volume 4. That could be a problem, unless that's going to be made up for by bonus materials and the longer running-times of a few of the later shorts.

Are you talking about my proposed bonuses? Or the '51 cartoons? 'Cause if it's the former, I don't see what is wrong with showing episodes of the anthology series. They did that on Volume 2 with the '56 episode: "A Day In the Life of Donald Duck". I for one would like to see at least "This Is Your Life, Donald Duck" and an excerpt from "The Plausible Impossible". They did show an excerpt from that episode showing clips of Mickey (seen on disc two of Mickey In Color 2). Maybe Donald's Plausible Impossible scene could be called: "Donald's Cartoon Physics".

I hope it's possible to piggyback a few of the unreleased Disneyland TV episodes onto this release in sort-of a reverse supplementary fashion. In particular, any of these:

Disneyland Showtime
Disneyland Goes to the World's Fair
The Golden Horseshoe Revue
From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow
Disneyland Around the Seasons
Gala Day at Disneyland

I'd hate to see any opportunity to get these shows out slip by!
I agree wholeheartedly, merlinjones!! Whatever Disney could fit in this volume would help tie it to the Treasures series.

Lars Vermundsberget wrote:In my opinion a second "Rarities" volume in the WDT line should stay away from most "new generation" material from the past 25 years or so. But there could still be enough older material. I guess this remains speculation at this point. If it were up to me they could include Susie and Casey and the Chip and Dale shorts in the final DD volume.
I'm more concerned with "Scrooge McDuck and Money," which is a major fave of mine, than Susie and Casey. Actually, those two are on other DVDs, McDuck and Money are not. That short would make more sense on a Donald set than Susie or Casey, actually, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see it on one.

Is the Plausible Impossible not already in a set yet (or on some other DVD)? I have all the Treasures sets, but there are a couple I haven't gotten to watch yet. Maybe it's Tricks of Our Trade I'm thinking of. That's in one of the sets, right?

Anywho, personally, I can't stand excerpts. It just makes me want the whole episode. As long as it's not double dipping, I wouldn't mind all of Plausible Impossible. What I would want the most though, aside from "Scrooge McDuck and Money" and any other shorts we don't have yet, are "This Is Your Life, Donald Duck" and "Your Host, Donald Duck." Any Von Drake shows would be welcome too though. He really deserves his own Treasures set or complete boxed set of some sort.

Drat. I was hoping for '47 through '51; then it would be the same amount of toons as the first set. :D

Me too, mainly so we'd get restored versions of "Corn Chips", "Lucky Number", and "Out of Scale"! :D

I guess we'll have to wait for December 2009 for those.

Oh well, at least we still have some Chip 'n' Dale toons, though.

But in that case could you tell how many shorts would be left for volume 4?

I have an increasing feeling these will be saved for the "Educational Disney" set, like the two Goofy cartoons etc...
That would also leave room for the 3 Chip & Dales on Donald vol 4.
Althoug, I'm not sure how educational the two "How to Have an Accidet" shorts are. Haven't seen them.

My thoughts exactly, a Treasures DVD comprised of, those Donald and Goofy shorts, plus Scrooge McDuck and Money, maybe a couple more of the training films from the WWII era and round it off with the complete collection of Jiminy Cricket You and Your and I'm no fool shorts and I'd be one happy ichabod! ;)

ahh!- although the Legacy series seemed to be a fun and shiny new line, I am indeed pleased with everything except the release date :)
