In FINDING NEMO, the Academy Award®-winning creators of “Toy Story,” “A Bug’s Life,” and “Monsters, Inc.” dive into a whole new world of computer-animated fun, fantasy, and heartfelt emotion with this splashy underwater adventure. The film follows the comedic and eventful journeys of two fish - Marlin (Albert Brooks, “The In-Laws”) and his son Nemo (Alexander Gould) – who become separated in the Great Barrier Reef. Buoyed by the companionship of a friendly-but-forgetful fish named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres (TV’s “The Ellen Show”), the overly cautious father embarks on a dangerous trek and finds himself the unlikely hero of an epic journey to rescue his son - who hatches a few daring plans of his own to return safely home.
The top-notch voice cast of FINDING NEMO includes:
Willem Dafoe (“Spider-Man”) as Gill, the mysterious Moorish idol and leader of the Tank Gang.
Geoffrey Rush (“Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”) as the gossipy pelican Nigel.
Barry Humphries (stage star “Dame Edna”) as Bruce, the Great White shark who enlists in fish-eaters rehab.
Austin Pendleton (“A Beautiful Mind”) as Tank Gang member Gurgle.
John Ratzenberger (TV’s “Cheers”) as the Moonfish
Allison Janney (TV’s “The West Wing”) as Peach the Starfish.
Stephen Root (TV’s “NewsRadio”) as Bubbles the yellow tang.
Brad Garret (TV’s “Everybody Loves Raymond”) as Bloat the temperamental puffer fish.
Vicki Lewis (TV’s “NewsRadio”) as Deb/Flo the damselfish.
Bruce Spence (“Inspector Gadget 2”) as Chum the hyperactive mako shark.
Eric Bana (“Hulk”) as Anchor the anti-dolphin hammerhead shark.
Bob Peterson (Finding Nemo screenwriter) as the nursery manta.
Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo director) as Crush, the surfer-dude sea turtle.
Nicholas Bird as Squirt, the surfer-dude sea turtle in training.
Joe Ranft (Pixar Story Department Head) as Jacques the over-eager cleaner shrimp.
Written and directed by Pixar’s Oscar® nominated Andrew Stanton, (nominated Best Animated Feature, “Monsters, Inc.” 2001 and Best Screenplay, “Toy Story” 1995) co-director of Disney/Pixar’s 1998 hit “A Bug’s Life” and co-writer of all four previous Disney/Pixar films, FINDING NEMO sets a new “high water mark” for the art and technology of computer animation.

After reading this, Disc 2 doesn't sound as bad as I thought.

I think this DVD sounds good, but I'm really hoping there's more to it than what the press release is letting on since we need the usual things such as galleries, trailers and tv spots, abandoned concepts, etc. I'm also curious to see if Pixar shows us the original dark story treatment of Nemo, which sounds fascinating.

Yeah, I'm sure all the trailers and TV spots will be included, as Pixar's great at giving us those.

Hopefully the documentary will cover the transformation in treatment that you mention, which is interesting, I agree!

WOW! This sounds like a great DVD! I can't wait to own it. It may just inspire me to go out and purchase the other Pixar films, with the exception of Toy Story... I would really like to have gotten the Ultimate Toy Box, but it is just money I do not have... :(

Any way, sounds like a great DVD, and I am especially interested in the Aquarium feature, hope it turns out as good as I am imaging it!

Some article that profiled Stanton and the movie said that he specifically didn't want to do outtakes and didn't want to have Randy Newman do the score, just because he didn't want people to think Pixar had to stick to a formula.

I think it's a wise move.

Now that I know we're having a lot of the meat and potatoes in the visual commentary (which I misread before and thought it only said audio commentary), I'm more satisfied with this DVD. Commentary, documentary, narrated galleries, deleted scenes, recording sessions, trailers-sounds good to me. :D

Once again, Pixar have made an excellent selection of extras...

They never disappoint, and I'm sure this will be grand.

Now, all I have to do is see the film (which is not out here for another month). :o

It is always great to see that Pixar make consistently good films when they could just as easily release a barebones disc that they know will sell like hotcakes either way.

I've always said Pixar can do no wrong with their films, and once again they prove that they can do no wrong with their DVD releases. This set seems to be very much in the mold of previous Pixar collector's editions, but each film is so unique that it makes it different and special seeing each movie in a new light on DVD. I especially can't wait for the visiual commentary.
I'm also curious to see if Pixar shows us the original dark story treatment of Nemo, which sounds fascinating.

OK, I have yet to see this movie, so are the turtles a really big part in it? Because if not, that cover's horrible. Where's Nemo? His name is in the title, but he doesn't get to be on the cover? Poor little Nemo...

No, the turtles aren't in it for very long, but they do hold some significance beyond their appearance. And their scene is one of the best in the movie.

It'd kind of be tough to get Nemo and Marlin & Dory to all be on the cover, since they're rarely all together.

Yeah, but the cover doesn't have to be an actual scene from the movie. Look at the Sleeping Beauty cover art-Phillip appears twice! If the turtles aren't a very big part of the movie, I say ax them and make room for Nemo-isn't he technically the movie's star?

I know that, but logistically, it doesn't work.

And no, Nemo isn't really the star of the movie, even if he appears in the title. Marlin & Dory are probably given more time on the whole than Nemo.

I've not seen the film (living as I do in the UK - may as well just get the DVD a few weeks after the film opens over here in October) but, surely Nemo is a McGuffin?

To wit: ‘ A device or plot element that catches the viewer’s attention or drives the plot. It is generally something that every character is concerned with.’
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Not QUITE a McGuffin, at least not in the Godot sense. He certainly is a character and an important one, but more time is given into "finding him" then him "waiting to be found."

If anyone is interested the supplements have been certified at the BBFC and listed on this thread in the International forum. It's useful to view, as it will show the running times (or not, being as once again the bulk of the supplements are under a minute).

However there is some mystery, as some of the supplements are suffixed "International Version".

Anyhow, it give a good indication of what the bulk of the R1 disc's contents will be.

This disc is missing most of all the Pixar material, like galleries, trailers, posters, internation reel, gag reel, CGI tests, and so much more that was on other pixar releases. what's the deal? :?
