The scene was hysterical. It was kind of Shrekesque though.
Purists will hate it, but those who can laugh at themselves will love it.

Having all the Princesses on film for the first time just for a cheap gag? Just not my thing. Anything on Gigantic? Or did they completely whip it from existenceRyGuy wrote:Yes and no.DisneyEra wrote:So basically Wreck-It Ralph 2 is just a platform for Disney's Franchises

No idea about Gigantic . . .
As for whether the gag was cheap, I think that will be in the eye of the beholder. When they first said they were going to "Oh My Disney" I rolled my eyes, but I laughed out loud multiple times during the Disney Princess scene. It thought it was clever including a gag where Merida says something in a very thick brouge, no one can understand her and one of the princesses leans over and whispers "No one can understand her. She's from the other studio!"

Oops that was in the tweets. Sorry. Lots going on at the expo and it's hard to keep up with what's written here. I hope you all will forgive me for repeating stuff.
Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
As for "cheap" I was referring to myself about the princess scene. I just expect more from WDAS. It's being tweeted about like crazy on Twitter, so clearly people are looking forward to it. But it's just sad that the film is basically being hyped just for THIS scene. Wasn't Wreck-It Ralph suppose to be about Video Games?RyGuy wrote:No idea about Gigantic . . .

Thanks for the info on Gigantic, that feature, like originality is dead at WDAS

Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
I have so many issues with this, I don't know where to start.
• First of all, the princesses aren't meant to interact with each other. When the franchise was being formed in 2000-2001, Roy E. Disney was against it as he believed that lumping the princesses together robs them of their individuality and uniqueness and muddles the settings, eras, and timelines of their respective films. A compromise was reached where even though the princesses can be featured together, they can never acknowledge each other or interact with one another. Roy fought hard to keep the characters and their worlds separate and this scene undoes all that. This scene is not some commercial or promotional video or part of a TV show that's not canon and you can easily ignore. It's in a WDAS film making it canon which gives the way the princesses are depicted there, weight and significance.
• The issue of who is and who isn't a Disney princess is further complicated. Disney doesn't consider princesses just female characters who are royalty but whether or not they're part of the Disney Princess® brand. That's why characters who are princesses in their respective films aren't part of the line-up (e.g. Eilonwy), while characters who aren't, are (e.g. Mulan). Since 2010, in order for new characters to be inducted into the franchise, they need to have a coronation ceremony. This scene includes Vanellope, Elsa, Anna, and Moana who haven't been crowned and aren't part of the franchise but are grouped together with the official ones and are acknowledged as princesses, creating even more confusion and inconsistency.
• The princesses behave out of character as they tease each other and make passive-aggressive quips. The princesses are treated in a irreverent, mocking manner and are criticized for their gender politics. The whole scene is gratuitous and self-referential and comes across as an ill-conceived, fan-made product.
• The 2D princesses are rendered in CG, further ignoring their hand-drawn roots. I know the movie's CG, but they could have animated them in 2D and made a joke about the difference in medium. It could have worked.
Here are more details regarding the scene in question to form your own opinion about it.

Source: http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/07/14/ ... ors-cameo/Inside the room, the Disney princesses are shocked to see Vanellope. They all draw weapons -- Moana, Cinderella, Repunzel, Jasmine, Snow White, Ariel and more are ready to go. They question how she is a princess and gleefully tell horror stories of their origins. They call her a princess when they realize her life was great until a big strong man showed up. A Batman style transitions takes the clip to girls having a slumber party. Ariel starts singing about wearing a shirt for the first time and the princesses beg her to stop.
Vanellope calls the princesses cool because they're as messed up as anyone. Jasmine reveals she is allergic to cats despite hanging around a tiger all the time. C-3PO eventually enters and tells them they have five minutes. They call him R2-D2, then BB-8. He says he longs for the days of Captain Solo. Vanellope is happy to have met them and prepares to leave.
Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... on-1021384The clip showed Vanellope, in a website named OhMyDisney.com, meeting all the Disney princesses in the hopes of stirring up some trouble. But as she interacts with them — in ways that, in rapid succession, lovingly skewer the history and tropes of Disney animated classics and princesses — she develops a respect for them. And she gives them a wardrobe change.
Source: http://www.toonzone.net/disney-princess ... k-ralph-2/The girls immediately question Vanellope’s right to be there, but she insists she’s a Princess too. Then she convinces them to ditch their elaborate wardrobes in favor of slacker sweatwear similar to her own, followed by a confession scene where Snow White admits she needs glasses and Jasmine confesses she’s actually allergic to cats.
Source: http://ew.com/movies/2017/07/14/wreck-i ... rincesses/Disney’s princesses cross paths with the galaxy’s most uptight droid. And they bicker. And they’re mean to each other. This really is the internet. When Vanellope turns up in their dressing room, the princesses react to the little glitch’s presence by leaping into attack mode: Merida draws her bow, Mulan points a sword, and Cinderella smashes a glass slipper and holds it out like a broken bottle.
Vanellope disarms them by explaining that she’s a princess, too, from the video game Sugar Rush. The women ask her a series of princess test questions to determine her bona fides. One of them is: “Do people assume all of your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up?”
While Vanellope lavishes praise on their gowns, the princesses admire her casual street-wear. “I’ll get my mice on that!” Cinderella declares. Soon, all the princesses are lounging together in shorts, sweats, tank tops, and, as Ariel says, “What’s this called again…? Oh yeah, shirt.”
Before long, a stage manager enters to give them the 5-minute warning for the next performance. It’s C-3PO — everybody’s favorite golden fussbudget.
Cinderella, obviously irked, turns on him icily: “Why, thank you R2-D2.”
Sleeping Beauty shakes her head. “Stop … you know he hates to be called that,” she says, before calling out cheerfully: “We’ll be right there, BB-8!”
C-3PO shuffles out, muttering to himself. “Such insolence. ‘You’re good with princesses,’ they said. ‘You’ll love this job.’ … Oh, how I long for the days of Captain Solo.”
Moana tells Vanellope goodbye, and the little video game glitch goes in for some hugs — only to get an arched back and a rabid hiss from Meeko, Pocahontas’ raccoon.
Source: http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... esses.aspxAs Wreck-It Ralph & Vanellope are scoping out OhMyDisney.com, they see a passel of Disney Princesses pass by (And who's keeping the crowd at bay as Ariel & associates are headed back to their break room? A squad of Stormtroopers from "Star Wars").
As soon as von Schweetz sees the extra-special treatment that all of this cartoon royalty is receiving, she turns to her OhMyDisney.com tour guide and says "Hey, what's the big deal with those broads?' Vanellope is then told that " ... "Those perfect models of femininity are known as the Princesses." Von Schweetz' immediate response to this news is "Let's go mess with them." When Vanellope is then told " ... The Princesses are off limits. You can't go messing with them," she laments "Now that's all I want to do."
Which is why - when no one is looking -- von Schweetz uses her glitching ability to gain access to the Disney Princesses' backstage break room. But things do not go well when Vanellope tries to introduce herself to this crowned crew. Startled to find this diminutive intruder suddenly in their midst, Belle & her buddies immediately go into defensive mode. First Pocahontas threatens to brain von Schweetz with her combination walking staff / Indian Club. And then Cinderella takes off one of her glass slippers and - after cracking it in two by suddenly slapping that shoe down on the edge of a nearby coffee table - threatens to cut Vanellope with its jagged edge.
But before it gets all "Game-of-Thrones" -y back there in the Disney Princess break room, von Schweetz blurts out "I'm a princess too." Which - as you'll recall from the end of the first "Wreck-It Ralph" (When Vanellope's code was finally restored, she was revealed to be [I'm quoting Sour Bill now] " ... the rightful ruler of Sugar Rush, Princess Vanellope") -- is true.
So the Disney Princesses then begin quizzing von Schweetz to determine exactly what kind of cartoon royalty she is. Rapunzel asks "Do you have magic hair?" Cinderella follows that by asking "Do animals talk to you?" asks Cinderella. Snow White wants to know "Did you eat poison?" Von Schweetz responds in the negative to all three of these questions. When Ariel asks her, ""Did you make a deal with an underwater sea witch who took your voice in exchange for a pair of human legs?," Vanellope's immediate horrified response is "No! Good lord, who would do that?"
That's some really sharp, funny writing there. But what really makes this sequence soar is that Walt Disney Feature Animation got the original voice actors to come back and read the lines that the "Wreck-It Ralph 2" story team had crafted for these characters. So that - when Princess Jasmine reveals that she's allergic to cats (Which would probably be incredibly problematic. Given that Jasmine's longtime pet / royal bodyguard is this immense Bengal Tiger called Rajah) - that's actually Linda Larkin who provides the grossly phlegmy cough which follows this very personal Disney Princess insight.
(Wait 'til you see how they handle poor Merida from "Brave"), it would be the equivalent of movie-goer malpractice to reveal too much more. Spoil the fun & surprise of seeing what the Disney Princesses are really like behind closed doors. But I think that Vanellope herself sums it up pretty well: "I always thought that princesses were perfect and boring. But you're pretty cool. You're just as messed up as the rest of us."
Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
This whole thing sounds like something that would work better in an episode of House of Mouse than in one of of their canon films. Actually this is reminding me of the concept for Pomp and Circumstance idea for Fantasia/2000 with the idea of the princesses having babies with Donald helping them out while being chased by the villains. I agree! It just shouldn't happen! Disney, why don't you give us an actual movie that feels like one without taking a stab at some of your earlier beloved films just because of some negative criticisms from the internet that take issue with things that aren't really that problematic in the first place?!!?

Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
Wow, wow. So I'm still processing this.
Well first, Vanellope will now be a Disney Princess officially.
I have so many mixed feelings. On one hand, YAAAS and using Oh my Disney are so lazy and very very modern and will be outdated. Esepecially YAAS. But, at the same time I won't judge YAAS yet and she sounds cool (And telling from the storyboards, she's Ralph's love interest) and the usuage of OH MY DISNEY is brilliant because who would think of that? They could make a random site, but screw it: Let's just tear down the fourth wall.
I disagree with Sotrisis. I was holding my breath, expecting the worst. The Disney Princess scene is just freaking brilliant. I'm still floating on a cloud 9. They make fun of the Princesses (The stereotypes, bursting into song "Ariel...no one wants to hear you sing" and LITERALLY Merida being Pixar), but still treating them with respect.? and the best part is that Vanellope LOVES them! The girls all love each other and it's incredible and sweet. But at the same time...............what? I thought it was a joke at first until the voice actresses came out (I was a mess). I literally had a gut feeling they were going to do this. So, pretty much, to be remembered by the public, a Disney movie needs to have their princesses? So, WiR is THAT not popular, so they have to make Vanellope to get remembered? I honestly don't know if this is really the movie Rich wants. I applaud this boldness, but yeah this seems like a huge Disney advertisement. "Like you want us to sell WIR Merch, advertise our stuff in the sequel"
But other than that, I'm still very excited about this. All of you will love the teaser.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
Such a disappointing day. Seeing the once great WDAS sell itself out for cheap gags & money. Like 2D Animation before it, the Original IP is now dead at WDAS. What a waste
Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
Vanellope doesn't accuse Belle of having Stockholm Syndrome does she?
Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2
I'm so excited I literally CANNOT wait!
I think it'll be cool to have all the princesses on screen together, and love the meta approach it's taking. I trust Rich Moore, so I have no reason to believe he will let the fans down. In my opinion, it's gonna be the same as having princesses at breakfasts together in the resorts.

Actually, no. Vanellope is so sweet to them. Actually, it is Belle and Rapunzel who says something like "And you are a prisoner of an isolated place with a bad guy?! While the audience DIED. DisneyEra, please calm down about Gigantic. I admit that Pixar announcing a 2020 feature and Disney ignoring Gigantic says something, but it isn't dead.

It isn't just Gigantic, it's the original IP. Did Lasseter revel anything new other than sequels to Ralph/Frozen from WDAS? That's what I thoughtdisneyprincess11 wrote:Actually, no. I did laugh. I think the whole idea it's hysterical. At the same time I think they shouldn't have revealed it so soon. People will have a year to judge the idea before they can see the actual movie, and if you spend a whole year hating something it's just difficult to let it go. Perhaps people would be more opened to it if everybody just saw it in the movie.

OK, to give my thoughts about the idea; Though I don't detest the Princess-inclusion completely, I do find it somewhat laughable and insipid to include it on the Wreck-It-Ralph universe. Such an idea is cute on the nose, yet not suitable for a premise as Wreck-It-Ralph. Since the original was about the videogame-world, it should've continued on that mold. I personally don't mind interaction between the Princesses, though their non-interaction it's meant to be a policy, I've always thought that interaction between them being a fun thing. Yet the premise for a Wreck-It-Ralph-sequel could've called for something else than a Disney's brand spoof.

That sounds horrible, pure pandering. Sounds like one of those lame celebrity cameos on the Simpsons.
