Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
Rewatched it again. Still easily one of the best of the remakes. Flawed but much better than Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, or Pinocchio.
Halle was the perfect choice for Ariel and I am so glad I was proven 100% wrong about potential miscasting.

Insane this thread is almost 20 years old.
Yeah, it's a classic for a reason. Like what can you say that hasn't already been said? Wonderful, wonderful movie.

Re: Is Disney's Revival Era Over?
Yeah, I don't think we're doing anyone any favors by rushing to brand the last two films of Disney animation as any new era. If Moana 2 and next year's animated film do gangbusters, we'll probably just revert back to "Revival Era round 2" or something. We'll need a few more entries to kno...

Re: Wish
So am I the only one who hopes that, if Disney ever adapts Wish to Broadway, they take the unused concepts (such as Star being Star Boy or whatever his name would have been and "At All Costs" being a love duet between him and Asha) and adapt them to the stage like how Aladdin ended up usi...

Re: Wish
I wouldn't call Wish BAD, just played way too safe. Like the film itself is just blandly serviceable but the deleted scenes painted something more interesting and a better love-letter to prior disney movies. Honestly if it weren't THE centennial celebration film, I'd probably be kinder... I dunno, l...

Re: Is Disney's Revival Era Over?
Golden Era (1937-1942) Wartime Era (1943-1949) Silver Era (1950-1967) Bronze/Dark/WWWHD Era (1968-1988) Renaissance Era (1989-1999) Experimental Era (2000-2009) Revival Era (2010-2019) Frozen 2 being the last pre-pandemic film makes for a logical cut off-point. Honestly, not sure to call this era. T...

Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
Man, you guys are negative. xDDDD like cmoooon. i think y'all are nitpicking. the original is superior, of course, but I was pleasantly surprised. it's a new take on the music and i appreciate that. can stand alongside the original and the broadway version. far better than the atrocious "little...

Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
So the internet spends literal decades bashing Ariel as a "brat who whines and cries and gets what she wants despite taking no responsibility for her actions" ...and disney tried to fix that, so now the internet is saying "Ariel is a woke girl-boss! What's the point of Eric if Ariel ...

Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
Gee.... 2:15 runtime... for a movie that can be told beautifully in 1:25.... sounds ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous: that drawing with her "standing" with her fish tail holding the ship's rudder... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Is there no gravity or balance in this world?? I guess if they rea...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion
Soooo...I got the 2016 bluray in the mail today and thanks to HD, I can now notice a very weird visual during the "Belle" song...two extras staring at a turtle. I am not making this up. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/525392744768864266/815024433739464736/beauty-and-the-beast-disney...

Re: The Little Mermaid Discussion
For every "Silence is Golden" that gets released, there's a "Merman" that doesn't.
The fact that there's cut content we've still never even heard about yet is super tantalizing.

Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
AAAAAAAAA
I just discovered Abigail Cowen and now I'm mad Disney didn't cast her as Ariel when she literally looks, acts, and sounds like Ariel.
also would still have preferred Mark Hamill as Triton and Kathleen Turner as Ursula.
Keep Daveed Diggs as Sebastian tho. Perfect casting there.

Kingdom of the Sun as a Live Action Remake?
Disney's been on a trend of remaking all their animated movies into live action blockbusters, but what if one of them could be used instead to finally bring to life a scrapped movie? Long story short, Emperor's New Groove was originally planned to be a Prince and the Pauper-inspired epic called &quo...

As I'm in the UK, I don't have a chance of watching this ( I don't have Disney Channel etc ), so I was waiting for the launch of Disney+ ( £49.99 for the year ) .... but in their announcement of what will be on there, TANGLED ISN'T LISTED ! :x The film is, but not the show under either Tangled: The...

Re: Tangled: The Series
Honestly, I'm really hoping this show gets a complete series dvd/bluray release. This is one of the best shows ever made by Disney Television Animation: gorgeous art style, fantastic songs, deep explored lore, and just overall a worthy sequel to a great Disney movie. It does feel like a natural evol...
