Re: Disney Classics that are good but you don't like
One nitpick I've always had about Cinderella's ballgown is that it's technically SILVER, but due to shading against the nighttime sky has always been mistaken for blue. (A meme of this sort emerged a few years ago). Not only has Disney marketing made the dress blue in merchandising, but they made it...

Re: Disney Classics that are good but you don't like
Moana is pretty much despised around here. That's why I try to not mention the film. News to me. My only nitpicks with Moana is that this was where Ron n' John conformed to the CGI protocol before one of them retired, as had been the trend for many 2D veterans at Disney. It also became clear, thru ...

They only have a disclaimer about dated stereotypes on the menu selection.
The film would not make sense of they censored the crows. (Even if they did, they'd have to remove the roustabouts too).

Re: Disney Classics that are good but you don't like
The Sword and the Stone : I don't hate this movie, but I'm not enthusiastic about it either. The film has been consistently praised for the Wizards' Duel, and some of the Nine Old Men have frequently pointed to this film as featuring their most favorite work. The problem with the movie is that ther...

Re: John Lasseter Accused of Sexual Assault
It's a complicated subject. Only a fair number of diligent cartoon fans had heard about misogyny behind the scenes before Lasseter got outed, and many more Disney fans knew nothing at all. The mass majority beyond those on the inside never knew about Lasseter's dark side; the lot of us only ever kne...

Me neither. The film is not horrible, but it's relentlessly mediocre.JeanGreyForever wrote:I don't understand at all what people see in that film.

I don't think Cinderella III or Bambi II are crap. Give them a chance. And you guys don't like Finding Dory?!?!!!!! I don't hate Finding Dory. The film was okay, and there was nothing bad about it. We just didn't NEED a follow-up to Finding Nemo. The journey of fish travelling the Pacific Ocean los...

HEY GANG! It's been a long time since I've been here. I thought I'd join in on the Disney+ topic. My wife and I subscribed last Friday after the heat died down on its launch date. The first movie we watched from it was Dumbo, partially because my wife had never seen it before, and because it ...

Re: Worst Decade for Disney Animation?
I'd have to say the 1970's was the worst decade. It was a time of uncertainty for the company overall, where particularly for animation, the Nine Old Men were left to pilot a ship without a captain. Not only was the company disoriented from Walt's passing, many other old schoolers were retiring or d...

Re: Who are your LEAST favorite animated Disney heroines?
Ditto on Eilonwy being incredibly bland. I get tired of hearing people cry all the time about Eilonwy and Kida not being Disney Princesses. Eilonwy offers nothing new to the table, and not only is she from a flop movie, but she has a derivative design and generic personality. The Eilonwy from the b...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney
This really is a surprise. DreamWorks seemed happy to leave 2D behind after Sinbad failed. They of course went full-throttle with CGI after Shrek hit it big, moving as far from any comparison to Disney as they could. So now, if this leads to something, Disney is once again going to chase after DW fr...

Re: Lasseter Sexually Assaulted Women
Guess this means no Cars 4. There will likely be a cars 4. It makes too much money for them not to. That could be one of John's last projects for all we know. They seem to need john for something important to them this year. Maybe its to get cars 4 on the right track (no pun intended) before he's o...

Re: Lasseter Sexually Assaulted Women
The fact that Disney feel they are too dependent on his presence during the production of movies says that they really need to come up with a production system that makes them less dependent on just one or two key individuals. That may be what Disney needs to do in the long run. The studio has a hi...

And to think I once respected the man for his accomplishments. I no longer feel that way. It's one of the reasons I haven't been watching many Pixar movies these days. I personally always have and always will prefer handdrawn. Still, finding out about all this is shocking. Just as well... http://me...

Re: Lasseter Sexually Assaulted Women
I'm guessing the rise of the MeToo movement prompted, if not Lasseter himself, someone close to him to take preemptive action.
Did anyone specifically out Lasseter last November?

Re: Lasseter Sexually Assaulted Women
My issue right now is that I’m not sure if we can trust certain stories that have come out in the past. Such as Lasseter giving Glen Keane the option to choose either hand drawn or CG for Rapunzel. Or Lasseter going out of his way to give Chris Sanders the rights to his American Dog characters. Bot...
