Re: Will Disney celebrate it's 105th Anniversary in 2028?

Oh I hope not . . . At some point, there seems to be celebration fatigue with all of these milestones . . . I remember when they celebrated 100 years of Walt Disney back in 2001 or 2002 and I overheard someone with last years 100 year celebration complaining about that, along the lines of "Wait...

Re: A TV show episode that has a reference to the 1964 Disney musical film "Mary Poppins"

There also was an episode of Big Bang Theory (S12 E6) where Howard and Bernadette dressed up as Bert and Mary Poppins for Halloween

Re: Turning Red

I saw it yesterday. Had the whole theater to myself 😆 Saw Soul last month and I think there were a few people there, but not many. I’ll see Luca next month and my daughters want to go (they liked that one but not Soul and Turning Red). I get that the value proposition for these re-releases isn’t hig...

Re: What is your ideal Disney movie?

I too would love something in 2D. I wouldn't mind a new setting/story that takes place in a location that hasn't been used before (or used frequently) such as India or Japan or Russia or somewhere in Africa. I just want it to be a real place and not some amalgamated thing like Corona, or Arendelle, ...

Re: Wish

Took my teenaged kids to see it yesterday. Everyone liked it. After having had the day to reflect on it, I think it's a decent movie, but it seems to lack tension (i.e., a reason why you should be invested in the characters). I'm not sure whether that's due to the story itself or the execution of th...

Re: Disney Fatigue?

I think there is a fatigue. In addition to the endless parade of remakes (which in many respects seem to be diminishing in popularity with few exceptions) many of the plots of recent WDAS and Pixar films seem to border on the bizarre or perhaps overly cerebral. Ralph Breaks the Internet and Lightyea...

Re: Wish

I'd say movies like Tangled, for the hair animation, and Moana do indeed look much better in 3D - I don't think the gorgeous parts with water in Moana would have looked nearly as good in 2D. But for Frozen and here 2D would work better, there are many moments where I really don't like how their fac...

I’ll have to rewatch to be sure, but I think that he tripped on watermelons.
I think they were the trolls (as rolling rocks) from Frozen

Web capture_18-6-2023_213830_twitter.com.jpeg Saw this reply to one of those animator tweets and ... I honestly don't even know what point they're trying to communicate. Like, do they not know what movie theaters are for? Or how the industry works? I think they be making the point that the Hollywoo...

Re: The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)

I took my niece and my daughter and for me it was just kind of there. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it; I just thought the film lacked charm. I was ok with the changes in setting, etc, but the whole thing felt “paint by numbers” to me. I’m glad others loved it because it’s clear that a lot of work...

Re: Strange World

I really disliked this film. I found the story to be predictable and without any real gravity. And everything felt like paint by numbers . . . you could have made the entire Clade family black or Asian or white and it wouldn't have changed the story at all. You also could have made Diazo a girl (or ...

Re: Strange World

I’d be surprised if this movie isn’t a flop along the lines of Treasure Planet . Mind you that I’m not saying it will flop or that it deserves to flop, just that I’d be surprised if it doesn’t. Animated adventure movies just don’t seem to play that well anyway, followed by the inevitable controversy...

Re: Non-Disney films you love as much as Disney's best?

Disney bought pretty much all of my favorites like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I love Anastasia and I think it (but not Thumbelina) could be included in the Disney Princess lineup but only because I think that’s all a marketing thing anyway. I don’t think it should be in the WDAS canon mostly becau...

Re: Encanto

I took my kids to see the movie last night (sneak peak). Overall everyone enjoyed it. I don't think it's their best movie but I do think the themes are relatable and Mirabel is a very likeable character. Artistically, I think it's a very visually appealing movie. A couple of things: 1. We had listen...

Re: Godmothered

I think you guys are crazy for thinking this film about totally new characters was supposed to be the Enchanted sequel. I also think they can make a good real sequel and make it with the same kind of animation as before. Haha. Maybe so? To be clear, though, I don’t necessarily think that Godmothere...

b/c then they don't have to pay Amy Adams, James Marsden, and whatshisname from Grey's Anatomy the crazy high salaries they will demand to appear in a sequel to a film that's already more than 10 years old and most people who aren't Disney fans have probably forgotten about. A whole new cast of b-c...

Marce82, hiya neighbor! Yeah I agree. I was at Downtown Disney last night and it’s just so sad to see Disneyland over there empty. I will wait until it’s safe enough but if I had one wish it’d be to end the pandemic so we can get back to the good things in life.

Re: Godmothered

RyGuy, Nope... you weren't the only one. The animation was pretty low quality... it was not traditional, but a cross between computer generated and traditional, and the frame rate for it was either 3 or 6 frames per second, which made it look choppier (Disney animation is 12 to 24 frames per second...

It was funny and I enjoyed the story but I didn’t find it amazing. And while it’s always nice to see some animation, I can’t be the only one who found the animation to be pretty awful, can I?

Re: Encanto

I personally hope they make another princess film with an all or at least majority Black cast in the next decade. Ideally a film where there's actually a prince and a little bit of romance. That's just what I'd like to see.* I like films like Moana and Raya , too, but I also like the ones with roma...
