Re: Marvel's Ant-Man

I'm kind of surprised by how good the reviews for this film are... there were a lot of things I disliked. Above all else, this film was so predictable and lacked it's own identity. It's like every line was either some sort of inspirational quote from Instagram about perseverance or a rehash of somet...

Re: Tron 3

As a fan of the Tron series I have a few reservations... I don't think anyone will argue the first two movies have the strongest scripts, but instead that their use of technology is what defines them as exciting. The original Tron used insanely experimental processes to achieve the film's aesthetic ...

Re: Aladdin - Diamond Edition (Spring, 2013)

So.. I read back a bit and this topic seems to be dead. Just in case anyone was wondering, Aladdin is listed as a diamond edition on the trailer included on Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast. Not sure if word has gotten around?

HAH! A nod to the LGBT community. Well played, Pixar.

Well, Patrick might be wrong about their princess date and we might be wrong about them joining the lineup in the fall! Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney?

I want to preface this by saying I'm in no way an advocate for killing off the medium... but in a society obsessed with technology, hand drawn just doesn't compete with CG. Media trends are constantly being pushed to be more realistic, and in the eye of the general public hand drawn looks cheap when...

I love Frozen for many reasons, but I definitely understand and agree with most of the review. The film has a lot of flaws.

I just don't get the appeal of sequels. :/ I hope they're strong like Toy Story 2,3 and not unnecessary like MU and Cars 2.

Well, at some point in her development she did, at least: http://i.imgur.com/Cy9aWpl.png Also, the designer doll has hair: http://a.dilcdn.com/bl/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2012/08/maleficent.jpg Not that those dolls are exactly true to character, but I would assume conversations like this are held ...

Re: Frozen: Part V

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before - does anyone think Frozen will get vaulted? Since I was young throughout the 90's renaissance I'm not sure how those films were vaulted.. were they just advertised as being available "for a limited time?" I could see Frozen being added to th...

The awards start at 7PM PST and will be live streamed from the link below. Frozen and Monsters University are both nomin...

Re: How Many Disney DVDs/Blu-rays Do You Have? - Part II

Thanks for bumping! This gave me a reason to update my little catalog (which I've been neglecting ) As of right now I counted 207 - that's including Pixar, Marvel, and Disney distributed Ghilbli. I also included Thor 2, Jungle Book Diamond edition, and Jungle 2 Blu in that total since they all ...

Re: New Glen Keane short

So at first I was a little irritated that Glen was hooking up with a mobile company (that I don't own :P) to produce work that he was inspired to do. My thought was that he left Disney to push animation and work on his own craft. To think that he would then just turn aruond to work for another big c...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney?

Sofia the First uses cel shading which gives a 2D/3D mutant feel. I wonder if this technology could be improved? Sofia the First can look stiff. The Paperman technique is the next step, ie controlling and distressing the line more. I'm already seeing variations of it in other things, like the recen...

Re: What Disney movie did you just watch?

I watched Beauty and the Beast last night. I went to Disney World recently with my cousin and it seems like BatB music followed us EVERYWHERE. So I figured I might as well watch it. :P I never disliked the movie but it's definitely grown very much on me.
