Re: Thoughts on the change of color on Cinderella´s dress
Strawberry blonde with a silver dress is much more elegant. The Princess brand version is garish.

True, but this release's sales might be affected because the people who would actually care about that stuff make up a larger percentage.DisneyJedi wrote:Yeah, but did they fix the problems that people bitched about on the Cinderella Blu-ray?

Re: The Sword in the Stone 50th Anniversary Blu-ray and DVD
Slapping a median filter on an upscale and calling it a day is an absolute embarrassment of the worst possible magnitude. The Rescuers remains their best mid-period release on Blu-ray simply by messing with the transfer the least.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013
Disney of all companies should know that you can effectively lobby for classic status if you make something seem special enough. But I guess they're just not interested in putting in the effort to secure a legacy for more than a handful of titles.

Re: Which Companies should Disney purchase next?
Nintendo's been dropping in value at a. steady rate, though I highly doubt they'd want to take on all that their business entails just to get their valuable IP.

Re: Aspect ratio issues with the Diamond edition Cinderella
I think that 1.35:1 was the fullest frame they could get given the elements they had to work with, so I'm not too worried about those ones. The other ones being exactly 1.33:1 is a bit troublesome though, but nothing to get too hung up on. I just checked and all of the DVDs included with those movie...

Re: Aspect ratio issues with the Diamond edition Cinderella
It seems like the DVDs (except for Cinderella) are cropped slightly to 1.33 but the Blu-rays (and Cinderella's' Diamond DVD) are 1.37.

Re: Aspect ratio issues with the Diamond edition Cinderella
The original poster does not have their settings wrong, and this is not about proper aspect ratios. This issue is about how this particular dvd (Cinderella Diamond Edition) is formatted differently from every other Disney dvd before and after. A movie that is 1.33:1 or 1.37:1 or some similar ratio ...

Goof Troop volumes 1 and 2 are new DMC exclusives, hopefully they'll show up for DMR (and if we're lucky the rest of Gargoyles and DuckTales too).

Re: Beauty & the Beast original colors - in upcoming platinu
Just for curiosity's sake, I matched the BD side to the LD/VHS side as best I could (same exact settings for BD and 3D):

Re: Beauty & the Beast original colors - in upcoming platinu
It brings into question whether for Aladdin and TLK whether what we're seeing was the over-corrected for 35mm CAPS feed or a post-corrected version, or if they just found a more accurate color space to export it to film by that point and things were fairly similar.

Re: Beauty & the Beast original colors - in upcoming platinu
The old side of that comparison is ever so slightly blown out, but curiously not the degree that would result in the BD side's colors. Also the white part of Belle's outfit is closer to neutral on the left, even though the rest of the environment in warmer, whereas it's tinted warmer on the right. T...

Re: HD 1080p Disney Films - Online Digital Downloads Only
I rented Oz because it's a personal favorite of mine and they pretty much just dumped the existing 2k master on there, debris and all (and there's a lot of it). $18 is far too much to get just the movie in a relatively low-bitrate format.

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney?
Definitely. Pooh looked great from start to finish, at least within its own style.
I think they just borrowed a few DTS people to help with Frog and they applied some of the techniques that they had been using for the DTV stuff, Pooh gave them the chance to find out how to get a certain style.

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney?
It's less to do with the actual quality of the animation and more about the framing, layout, and compositing of the elements.

Very curious to see how they handle Oliver's transfer as it was one of the least touched up ones of the DVD era. Near-VHS.
