Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)

We now have video! Some onsite footage of the filming where the Giant's Wife lands down during the procession. Even though "Ever After" will be cut, I love that it's still being used as the fanfare music. And Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince already seems so delightfully hammy :p So excit...

Re: The Disney Attractions Discussion Series: Haunted Mansio

Decided to post a few more great examples of Marc Davis's Mansion work. All of them I have posted here before, but these are much better higher resolution versions. First, is Marc's original idea for the deranged woman with the cat, who later became one of the Sinister 11 portraits: http://farm9.sta...

I remember reading somewhere quite a while back, that Paramount had an idea for an Addams Family dark ride based on the 90s films for their Kings Island and Kings Dominion parks here in the states. I keep thinking of how awesome that would have been :p Other than the exception of the Scooby Doo char...

I'm hoping Alison Janney and Cheyenne Jackson both make the transition to the final film as Jack's Mother and Rapunzel's Prince. Both of them I think would be perfect casting. Hopefully though this one will actually get underway. Sondheim's shows into movies have a tendency to never get beyond the t...

Just a little something I did for fun. A collage tribute I made to women in the classic era of Imagineering, showcasing their art and skills. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8029/8013399788_fea6c8de83_b.jpg Mary Blair and her artwork for It's A Small World (top left). Wow, Tim, that was an excellent and thorough job of detailing all the changes to those attractions. I prefer the original Pirates but I don't mind the Sparrow changes as much as a lot of fans do. What I miss the most is actually that lovable "Barker Bird" on the outside. I really don't ge...

So... The only way I can eat at the tavern or Be Our Guest restaurant is by reservation, which I need to book half a year in advance? If so, that kind of bites. :( Be Our Guest restaurant will only be a table service restaurant for dinner. During lunch hours, it will be a counter service restaurant...

Wow, okay, this is a lot of questions, but here I go to try and answer all of them :p First, about the history of the Carousel of Progress. The Carousel of Progress originally started as one of the shows Disney created for the 1964 New York World's Fair sponosored by General Electric. (My dad actual...

I guess we're supposed to believe that they're some kind of holy untouched virgins who give birth through immaculate conception? Speaking of paradoxes, the whole thing that confuses and I find cringingly corny is the delivering of the babies from the storks in this segment. Yes, Dumbo was delievered by a stork in his film, but every subsequent Disney film hints or shows natural childbirth. Jim Dear and Darling in Lady and the...

The company has been advertising their parks since Walt's time either in television or on the film screen. They didn't do it on the film screen in Walt's day, though. Even though I still don't think its a big commercial, they don't need a commercial, some people want to tell a fun story about their...

Things must be pretty bleak in Disney's theme parks if they need to make a theme park movie. Actually, the American theme parks have always been consistent moneymakers for Disney, and at times have been even more profitable for them than animation. Not to mention this is nothing new from Dis...
