Re: Disney's live-action Jungle Book

Just thought I'd put in my 2c after seeing the film today. It was a good movie and I really did enjoy it. I don't like the overuse of CGI in movies nowadays but in this movie it really was pretty seamless. The only things about it I didn't like were: The voice acting: There was a time when Disney us...

Re: Has Disney finally stopped releasing 2-disk movies?

There's also the issue that less people are buying dvds nowadays, and the internet, like it or not, is slowly killing physical media. Why sell a full two or three disc movie set when no one is buying? I preferred the old 2 disc special editions, but even I have found that I just don't buy them anymo...

Re: The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince Book

Fairest of All was quite good. I think I wrote about it on a thread here at some point. It kind of did the same thing as Maleficent in that it added a little TOO much to the story rather than relying mostly on what it already had to work with, but it was still quite good. The book also seemed to be ...

Re: “Descendants” Disney Channel movie to star Disney Villai

They used to make weird movies like this all the time back in the 80's didn't they? I don't think it should be considered "canon" by any means, but it looks kinda fun.

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

Am I the only one who saw the wing-stealing scene and didn't think "rape metaphor"? I saw it as Stephan not wanting to kill the girl he secretly loved and taking her wings as a sort of compromise. That way he could be King, and Maleficent no longer posed a threat since it was the power her...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

I don't really care whether or not other people see this movie as "canon". Truth be told I'm sure that most of the people in the movie theatre when I saw it hadn't even seen the original! To the movie-going masses this was just a fairytale action movie with Angelina Jolie. I hope it sparks...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

I'm not willing to drop a tenner on a cinema ticket so I'll wait for the DVD. Oh my god yes! I completely agree! Cinema tickets in the UK have become insanely expensive. I just moved back to England after living abroad in a few different places/countries for years and I was shocked by how expensive...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

I didn't read the leaked script when it first surfaced as I didn't want to spoil the movie for myself. I just read it now, and actually thought it was much, much better than the final film! What?? Why?! It just seemed to be a more full, rounded story to me. I didn't think it was great, and ...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

See, I don't view it like that; its a separate entity in itself. Like, I don't regard Snow White & The Huntsman as 'changing' Disney's version….two different films, with a diff take. Except this time, its done by Disney themselves which makes it even more interesting. The difference is though t...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

I just got back from seeing it. I really have been looking forward to this since hearing about it years ago, and Sleeping Beauty is my favourite Disney movie. It was ok. It was good. It wasn't terrible. I was just "meh" about it honestly. It was very cheesy and parts of the story felt rush...

Re: Why doesn't Disney care about Mickey?

The thing is, Disney is a business and so they're always going to focus more on characters who are popular at the time. If one of Disney's lesser known movies like The Black Cauldron or The Great Mouse Detective suddenly became massively popular, then the stores would overflowing with merchandise re...

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion

Oh, I'm glad that the fairies still become full size "mortals" when they take care of Aurora. The CGI thing isn't to my taste really, but I can understand why they did it. Although in the original movie, the fairies were able to be big and small while they were still fairies, only shrinkin...

Re: A Complete Collection

At one time I aimed to have a complete collection, but I think now, for me anyway, it's just a little unrealistic! I've moved around a lot in the last few years, so my entire collection has been boxed up at my parents' house, and I don't see myself settling down permanently enough to take them with ...

Re: Frozen Becomes The Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

Glad to see we're getting back on topic here... funny how this thread turned into such a debate about Anna punching Hans! And I honestly never meant it to! Anyway, does anyone here think that giving the film the title "Frozen" rather than keeping to a more traditional fairytale-style name...

Re: Frozen Becomes The Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

You are still missing my point entirely. I did not say Hans did not deserve it. I said a female character in the same situation would not have been punched. Could you just answer me one question? Do you think that if the genders were reversed female Hans would have been punched by the male protagon...

Re: Frozen Becomes The Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

How would you change things then ?? Because I really like Anna standing up for herself and not letting Hans' bs get to her. If she was soft on him, then Hans could easily find it a free road into being terrible to her and Elsa again. I really believe that if you are a abusive manipulator, male or f...

Re: Frozen Becomes The Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

Just think of the other female Disney villains: the Evil Queen fell down a cliff after being chased by an angry mob (I hate to bring this up, but that do angry mobs do?), Ursula got freakin' shanked, Maleficent was also stabbed and died, and all the slapstick physical harm Yzma suffered! Nobody got...

Re: Frozen Becomes The Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

The thing that annoys me about this entire discussion is that I never mentioned whether or not Hans deserved it. I said that it was a double standard which it is. Everyone seems to reply with "BUT HANS DESERVED IT!" To be totally honest, I never said he didn't deserve it. The point I was m...
