It wasn’t executed well in the writing or storytelling, but Asha is supposed to be the world’s first fairy godmother. That’s where the whole movie was leading up to, hence why she wore Cinderella’s fairy godmothers cloak. It wasn’t executive meddling, whatever that means.

Lol this forum had the same concerns when the Tangled characters and plotline were announced, and that ended up being a lush, sweet and earnest fairy tale film. Maybe give this a chance until we learn more info? I'm sure it's still going to be a big, sweeping musical fairy tale adventure.
