Farerb wrote: Thu May 16, 2024 9:30 am It does seem like Disney hasn't been releasing much to Disney+. It feels like the last high profile Disney+ movie was Peter Pan and Wendy which was released more than a year ago.
We just got out of a long writers strike, of course there was gonna be a gap.

This was ad for toy story 3, but disguised as a reveal for a new tech gadget, I loved the fake out.

What a strange response. Its like he's lumping the whole ip into one thing with the "for decades" line. Like, yea, all that stuff applies...to the original, and only the original.

Re: Tiana (Disney+ Series)

Hmm, so maybe that's the big decision they have, do a series in CG, or a movie hand drawn. I have a feeling regardless of the medium, a movie is the better way to go. Disney doesn't have the best track record for telling stories in a series anyway.

I dont see why not. Its something we all feel to some degree or another, the more we get older.

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney

If Disney+ is so frowned upon, how come there are still projects in the works being made for Disney+, even unannounced ones like Wonder-Man and Vision Quest over at Marvel Studios, that Inside Out series at Pixar, etc. Because they are all in on it, traditional cable is a dead end. Lately, one of m...

Re: Will Disney Ever Recover?

They're not gonna shut down their animation department, but I do think they will need to continue to fail harder before we see them rise out of this. Iger recently said a lesson they've learned is that they need to do more oversight of their creatives to make sure things dont go awry. Like, what? Th...

Re: Tiana (Disney+ Series)

What if they do it like the new X-men?

That series is CG, but made to look like hand drawn from the 90s. Its not 100% convincing, but at a glance, I think many will not be able to tell.

Re: Tiana (Disney+ Series)

It's not like they don't know. Go to any video where they showcase hand drawn animation, on official disney videos or otherwise, the comment section across the board everywhere beg them to bring it back. Disney does not care.

Re: Tiana (Disney+ Series)

Being done in a vector "almost there" / Rapunzel style is about the most I was expecting anyway. While they probably want some aspects of the movie in the style, the more practical/realistic part me knew expecting real hand drawn was a pipe dream. They're gonna do what they're gonna do, we...

Re: Mufasa: The Lion King (Live-Action)

Well, story and pacing issues are kind of a different thing from the animation appeal, but yes, they could be putting some of that into the animation quality. I just have my doubts they will ever give these remakes the actual amount of time they need to make them truly special. Again, movies have so...

Re: If you HAD to greenlight a sequel to a Disney classic, which one (and why)?

I think they didnt do a dinosaur followup because it was kind of a stop gap movie. They didnt know yet if they wanted to fully dive into a CG movie, so they tried doing it with live action background plates. After that they were ready to fully transition to 3D. I guess you could ask why they didnt s...

Re: If you HAD to greenlight a sequel to a Disney classic, which one (and why)?

Interesting :) but im a bit confused as how they managed to use his voice material for the OuaS short then :| You know, so am I. My only guess is that they were able to circumvent that by getting his daughter Zelda's approval for it. Since they did have her go-ahead, they didn't need to wait for th...

The adult Mufasa or whoever next to Rafiki Has a decent bit of expression if you ask me, just as much or more so than Aslan In the Narnia movies :-) :o Ooooh. Re: If you HAD to greenlight a sequel to a Disney classic, which one (and why)?

There's supposedly enough unused material recorded for Aladdin of Robin Williams to make another movie. I don't know if they could make it work from a narrative perspective, but I'd love to see more from the genie. Supposedly they aren't allowed to use said material until 20 years after his death, w...

Man, that's not emotion. it's the same "expression" we saw in the entire first remake.
