Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)

I was wondering, is this the first time Disney studios proper have adapted a pre-existing musical? I can't think of any other examples. There's one, anyway: "Babes in Toyland" existed for decades before the Disney film adaptation. (I confess I'm not too familiar with the original; I have ...

Re: Disney & Jennifer Lee to Adapt "A Wrinkle in Time"

Published in 1962, “Wrinkle in Time” was one of Lee’s favorite novels as a child, and she impressed Disney executives with her take on the project, which emphasizes a strong female-driven narrative and creatively approaches the science fiction and world-building elements of the book. This kind of t...

Re: Hand-Drawn Animation Dead at Disney?

Losing 2D animation should not be considered a petty thing. Unless it's from people who don't care about art. I’m sure the people involved in CG production take their art quite seriously, too. So blame all the studios and their tiresome CG movies for making me this way. Your behavior is the only th...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

When is Disney planning to release Star Wars Episode 8? Isn't it in the same year? I haven’t seen a hard date for Episode 8, but yes, that’s the word. Three Marvel titles are scheduled in 2017 as well—two of them for summer. Hmm I don't know about this. The script seemed so troubled that it felt li...

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014

also, why arent there any links to preorder the bluray on amazon yet? final cover art not finalized or? Something is afoot in Amazon land. They've denied pre-orders from Hatchette Book Group; for weeks they'd done the same thing for Warner home media titles. Right now there are some Disney releases...

Re: Need help getting my Disney movies from iTunes to Flixst

A given digital copy may only be offered a single source of redemption—iTunes *or*, for example, Vudu. Some titles offer redemptions from more than one source with the same code. Some offer redemptions from more than one source using separate codes. I don’t have my Mr. Banks at hand, but I suspect t...

Re: Need help getting my Disney movies from iTunes to Flixst

UV is actually a different format... Providers vary by title, as do the number of redemptions. You may be out of luck. I'd recommend going through the digital copy sticky thread at blu-ray.com (linked below) or emailing/calling Digital Copy support (also below). There are alternative solutions, thou...

Re: The Disney Movie Rewards Discussion & Info Thread Vol. 4

It's funny, I still haven't received the Nightmare Before Christmas Blu-ray that I redeemed. Normally, DMR is FAST for me. It only took two or three days to get A Bug's Life, The Rocketeer and the Princess and the Frog in, it seemed. Anybody else redeemed Nightmare yet? I'm just curious. Depending ...

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2014

yes...but why do you feel you have to justify films so much with numbers and stats as to wether they have merit or not? It made me smile back in 1988 when I watched it with my mom in that old now defunct Miracle theater. It made many others smile when they saw it back then too. It made back its bud...

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2014

Yes—point taken about Oliver’s initial box office performance. Since I’m feeling contrary, though = ) Accounting for the difference in budgets and adjusting for inflation, Oliver’s performance would measure about dead even with The Rescuers and would lose out to The Fox and the Hound. More important...

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2014

^These aren’t great films, they’re not very popular, they’ve never generated a ton of money. Rather than drop the price point, they’ve made a practice of including sequels as a value-added measure. In other words, they’re doing exactly what you suggested they do with the package features— -They´d gi...

Re: Should the package features be canon?

I don’t understand the debate.

If a film is an animated feature, theatrically released as entertainment, created by the unit responsible for animated feature theatrical releases, it has a place in the canon. If not, then it doesn’t.

Well, said! Clapping? I consider it a sad fact, not a happy one. Not, not a happy one, but a fact nonetheless. I won't accept that for an excuse. It’s a reason, not an excuse. The public wants what it wants, and it seems pretty clear the public's appetite for CG features is greater than for ...

Re: Frozen: Part V

Well yes, I would say a lot of the other studios out there like DreamWorks are largely to blame also for flooding the market with CG movies because of wanting to push competition against Pixar, and for spreading their own poisonous beliefs to Disney that 2D animation is old and outdated. It's not a...

They came much later than cave drawings, and it's called The Starry Night, not Starry Starry Night like the lyrics from Vincent    who'd have thought Parker & Stone could create a bona fide movie musical? It wasn't their first movie musical, and certainly not their last, so anyon...

Also, South Park is on this list as number 26? THAT cheap excuse for a cartoon? Please. It's a brilliant movie. Haven't seen it since its theatrical release, so I don't know that I'd go that far--but it was quite good, as I recall, and certainly had moments of brilliance. A lot of these film...

What *is* the point? Because there's nothing but speculation and supposition to suggest this is a real-world problem. It is a real-world problem regardless if you acknowledge it or not. If you even bothered to look into the matter instead of arrogantly dismissing it, you would know that there is pl...
